Awards

It is extremely gratifying to be recognized for the work one does, especially by the industry and association to which one is dedicated. Being honored with the 2002 Log Homes Council President's Award is not only a matter of personal effort, but reflects the paths that we take in life. Therefore, I would like to thank those people and organizations that have specifically provided opportunities and supported my efforts.

My professional association with the Log Homes Council began with my introduction by Steven Winter, Steven Winter Associates (SWA), then located in the Empire State Building, New York City. Among many interesting assignments, I was given the opportunity to advance the work already done on log grading into a certified grading program. Many of my friends in the log home industry date back to contacts made while with SWA. While my efforts evolved further since, I am grateful to Mr. Winter and my associates there.

Further down the road, I am thankful to the two log home manufacturers that provided exceptional support for my activities on Log Homes Council (LHC) committees. The Real Log Homes family invited me to join them and allowed me to invest time as Chair of the LHC Grading Program, Chair of the Technical Committee, and 2 years on the LHC Steering Committee. With my move from Vermont to South Carolina, Southland Log Homes continued that support for another 1-1/2 years.

Back in Vermont after establishing RobPickett &Associates, my journey is largely thanks to my family and my many friends and associates who make the industry the great one it is. I am grateful to all for the recognition that I have received.

► 2004 Log Homes Council President's Award - Presented "for representing the log home industry in drafting the Log Construction Standard of the International Code Council." Co-recipients included Joe Folker of Kuhns Bros. Log Homes, Ed Burke of the University of Montana, and Mark Hope of Timber Products Inspection.

► 2002 Log Homes Council President's Award - Presented "for his career contribution and management talent with the Technical and Grading Committees of the Log Homes Council. Thanks to Rob's insight and direction, the industry continues to improve the finish quality of our solid wood homes while educating buyers and code officials nationwide."

► 2002 Log Homes Council Innovator Award - Presented "for his outstanding contribution and direction with the Log Homes Council Technical Committee and the Strategic Plan."

► Recognition Award - Presented in 1999 by Hartland Community Connections in appreciation for outstanding contributions to the Town of Hartland Recreation Committee, Hartland Booster Club, and Hartland Elementary School.

► Real Log Homes Sales Award - Presented at the National Sales Meeting for Recognition of Outstanding Contribution to the 1995 Planbook Project.

► 1994 Log Homes Council President's Award — For continued contributions to the Grading Program and other industry issues. The award is annually given to the individual who has given the most to improve the Council and the industry.
